Festival Beach Community Garden is a community‑run, volunteer‑powered garden, cared for by neighbors and volunteers from across Austin. What began as a shared effort to grow food has grown into a resilient, welcoming place rooted in stewardship, cooperation, and connection.

Today, more than 100 dedicated gardeners supported by many volunteers work side by side to improve food security, health, and happiness in our community. Gardeners can rent individual in‑ground plots measuring 10′ × 20′ for $80 per year, with need‑based scholarships available. Raised beds are also offered for gardeners who need them, helping ensure the garden remains accessible to people of all ages and abilities.

FBCG is built on shared responsibility. Gardeners commit time each month to care for common areas, support one another, and be good stewards of this shared space. Through work days, open houses, and informal gatherings, neighbors exchange knowledge, celebrate milestones, and build lasting friendships across cultures and generations.

Beyond providing a reliable source of fresh, nutritious, and affordable food for gardeners and their families, the garden plays a broader role in the neighborhood. It serves as a vibrant habitat for pollinators and urban wildlife, while surplus produce is regularly donated to nearby food pantries—extending the benefits of the garden well beyond its fences.

Festival Beach Community Garden is more than a place to grow food. It is a space for collaboration, learning, and care, a welcoming gathering place where people from across Austin come together to support one another and the land we share.

As the garden continues to grow, we are focused on raising funds to sustain and improve this shared space. Community support helps us maintain infrastructure, expand accessibility through scholarships and raised beds, support educational programming, and protect the garden as a healthy, thriving resource for years to come.

FBCG is open to all. We welcome gardeners, volunteers, and supporters from every background and lived experience, and we are committed to creating a space where everyone feels respected, valued, and able to participate fully. Whether you are new to gardening or have been growing for decades, there is a place for you here.

We invite neighbors, friends, and supporters from across the city to join us—by gardening, volunteering, donating, or simply showing up—and help this community continue to grow together.
